A UK charity is investing almost $3 million into clinical trial research to see if high concentrations of Omega-3 can help survival rates of Bowel Cancer patients after surgery.

450 patients undergoing surgical treatment and whose cancer has spread to their liver, will take part in the trial to see if long term survival rates increase.

Omega-3 is an anti-inflammatory food, which has been shown to decrease incidences of Bowel Cancer. One important role seems to be that of reducing cellular inflammation - the pre-cursor to cancer.

Found in fatty fish and certain nuts and seeds, omega-3 fatty acids also help protect your heart and maintain brain function.
