On Saturday 13th October Little River rocked to the sound of ‘The Preservatives’ The dance was organised to raise funds for the Bowel Cancer Foundation Trust.
Local couple Faye and Tim had been teaching Ballroom Dance lessons in Little River, the dance was a great opportunity for class participants to don their dancing shoes and air their new found skills.
During the evening a silent auction was running with an amazing collection of goods generously donated.
The crowd danced enthusiastically and urged on by the two Fionas’ who compared the evening placed their bids.
A huge thanks to everyone who helped organise the dance and to the Little River community who supported the evening.
A total of $3000 was raised so far for the Foundation. There is a Give-a-Little’ page “Dancing for Bowel Cancer,” which runs until late December.
With thanks to The Preservatives band for the photos.
Pam Baird organised the fundraiser in memory of her late partner Kaite who passed away from bowel cancer in 2014.
Recently Bowel Cancer Foundation Trust funded a colonoscopy for Pam after her own bowel screening kit came back with a positive result and her DHB refused further treatment as she did not fit the government free screening criteria. Read Pam's story here.
